ABOUT THE ARTIST

Joshua Vonderheide is the Founder of The Percussion Conservatory, an educational, crowd-sourced content platform that provides classical percussion artists a digital classroom to share and learn from one another. In addition to his Sub-Principal Percussion position with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Vonderheide has a mission to solve to the accessibility issue in classical music. His vision is to create the world’s largest library of classical percussion content and provide full-tuition scholarships to young musicians in the process.

Music has brought Vonderheide all over the world and he’s played professionally with orchestras throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Vonderheide has worked as an educator and conductor for The Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program, and prides himself on being a dedicated and empathetic teacher. On that note, Vonderheide recently completed a series of Masterclasses in South Korea and Malaysia for over 100 young percussionists.

Joshua is an alumnus of the Verbier Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and the Texas Music Festival, all of which he attended on full scholarship. Vonderheide was a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School, where he completed his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees under the tutelage of Mr. Gregory Zuber and Mr. Daniel Druckman. Before moving to Malaysia, he returned to his home state of Texas for additional Artist Diploma studies with Matthew Strauss at Rice University.
